A Staff Review on Blue Palace, a Luxury Collection Resort, Crete
As the largest island in Greece, Crete is dramatically beautiful with a diverse geography – from magnificent beaches and impressive mountain views to sumptuous vineyards and fertile valleys cradling quaint villages.
The island is teeming with bewitching history and myths, and the locals are friendly and overwhelmingly proud of their culture. Admire remnants of bygone civilisations and the traditions and spirit of the people.
Not to mention the mouth-watering Cretan cuisine; indulge your senses with homemade meat, cheese, and olive oil in rural tavernas, washed down with a shot of fiery raki.
A luxury holiday to Crete has history, culture, food and scenery all rolled into one, where elegant resorts top it all off with divine vistas and first-class service.

How was the Hotel & Accommodation?
It was such a lovey hotel, the grounds seemed to go on forever. You always seems to be discovering something or somewhere new. If you are heading to the beach you have to take the funicular, which was fine for us, but its not for everyone. The hotels accommodation was great, rooms, suite and villas have amazing views of the sea. With most rooms having private pools which looked out over the water. Accommodation feels secluded, as though you have your own private villa. This is a great place to come for couples, or even a honeymoon.
Making the most of the facilities
The facilities at the hotel are good, they have everything you need including the onsite spa, the fitness centre and the hotels amazing swimming pools. The beach is great as well, the perfect place to spend the day relaxing. The staff at the hotel can organise trips and excursions to different local areas as they know the best spots to visit.
For something a bit more special, staff can set something up for you at the hotel, such as private dinners, wine tasting or cooking classes.
The Location
The location of the hotel was great, it is walking distance to the local town Plaka, it’s a pretty small town but it has plenty of shops and cafes filled with local product. It’s a lovely town to walk to in the day to have a look around but there is really no need to eat outside the restaurant as there are such great options onsite.
Food & Drink at the Hotel
Food and drink each day and night was great. Our favourite was the Blue Door Restaurant, located on the seafront for the perfect meal views. The food was traditional Greek food, plenty of fresh dishes filled with flavours. This is a must when staying at Blue Palace.
What made this hotel special?
The views out over the sea and towards Spinalonga made each evening a little more special. At night you can see the entire island lit up, it looks magical. This is great view from most of the points at the hotel.
Your Favourite part of the holiday ?
The terrace at the Blue Door Restaurant is where we would spend most evening, even if we weren’t going for food we would go for a drink. They have the most perfect terrace overlooking the sea, this has amazing views in the evening when the sun is setting and at night with everything lit up. They also have a great wine list and cocktail menu which is great to try during your stay at the resort.
Would you recommend this hotel to a friend?
Definitely, it’s a great hotel for someone that likes a bigger hotel/resort. It’s not a little boutique style hotel, there is a lot to see and do. But that’s a good thing in my eyes.
Overall Rating?
I would rate it a 4 out of 5, can’t wait to come back.
