|14 Feb||Gibbston Valley Region Wine Excursion – Queenstown
Today you will be met at your accommodation by your guide to enjoy your half day wine excursion through the Gibbston Valley Region.
Start with a scenic drive out through the Wakatipu Basin and the stunning Kawarau Gorge. Your local guide is an expert in this wine region and will get to know you and your personal wine tastes, tailoring your tour to suit, visiting some of the award winning cellar doors and arranging private tastings where possible.
Visit up to four vineyards in the Gibbston Valley region for tastings which are included. The Gibbston Valley is one of the most spectacular wine regions you are likely to encounter. Vineyards are patchworked precariously between dramatic schist ranges and the steep Kawarau River gorge.
A relatively young wine growing region, the first vines were planted in the early 1980’s by legendary local character Alan Brady. The land was rugged and uncompromising, home only to high country sheep farmers, and most thought he was crazy! But the landscape reminded Brady of the Bordeaux region in France and a romantic notion turned out to be a fabulous reality. Your guide will give you an informative commentary about the gold mining history and other wine pioneers of this region.
You will have the opportunity to view the historic Kawarau Bridge and see the bungy jumpers before being returned to your accommodation (approximately a 4 hour duration).
|21 Feb||Maori Rock Carvings Excursion – Rotorua
This morning you will be met at your accommodation by your guide and enjoy a full day trip to Taupo.
Three hour private scenic launch charter to the Maori Rock Carvings with commentary along the way. The crew will relate the history and stories behind the carvings.
Lunch will be available as they cruise with trout fishing to follow.

Be guided through the greenstone, wood carving and flax weaving schools at the New Zealand Māori Arts & Crafts Institute, Rotowhio Pā, Kiwi Conservation Centre and Te Whakarewarewa geothermal valley including Pōhutu geyser.
