Travel Experts: A New Santorini Escape
The New Domes Novos Santorini
Santorini, known for its stunning sunsets, volcanic terrain, and white buildings, is a picturesque island. This idyllic island escape is home to the recently opened Domes Novos Santorini, a 5-star hotel offering a magical retreat for an unforgettable escape.
Our Senior Luxury Travel Consultant, Jess, recently explored the newest addition to the Domes Resorts, sharing her thought and top recommendations when visiting.
Location
The hotel is conveniently situated near Oia – within walking distance, but it’s about a 15-minute uphill walk. Alternatively, you can opt for a taxi ride for €20 each way. The hotel is planning on adding a complimentary shuttle service to and from Oia, but during my visit for the soft opening, the shuttle service was not in operation.
Oia’s most famous feature is its enchanting sunset, drawing crowds to witness the magical sight over the Aegean Sea each evening. Often described as a scene from a postcard, Oia is undeniably the most scenic village in Santorini – some even argue it’s the most beautiful in all of Greece!
Dining at Domes Navos Santorini
The hotel features one main restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have a specialist chef introducing a new Greek tapas concept to the menu, which might not resonate with the guests. This limited dinner choice at the restaurant has received mixed reviews. Given that there is only one restaurant onsite at the hotel it is essential to provide more dining options. Fortunately, once the shuttle service is operational, guests will have access to various restaurants in Oia.
Hotel Facilities
The hotel boasts unique features that make it stand out from its competitors. Many of the hotels in the area are built into cliffs, which can be challenging to navigate, whereas Domes Novos Santorini is conveniently located on one level near the town, ensuring easy accessibility for all guests. Additionally, it offers a kids club catering to ages 4-11, although babysitting services are not provided on-site; arrangements can be made through an external company. The hotel also has a great spa and spa facilities, including a Sauna, indoor pool and Fitness Center.
Accommodation
Each room features a private pool or plunge pool, offer a luxurious touch to your stay, perfect for relaxation and unwinding after a long day of exploring. While the weather may have been too cold during my visit to take a dip, the private pool feature is perfect for the summer months.
Additionally, there is a main pool close to the restaurant with a partial sea view. For more privacy, consider requesting a room in the 300s range; I found room 305 to be particularly secluded. This hotel is an ideal choice for families and couples, offering a unique experience in Santorini.
